Northwestern Student Holdings (NSH) was established in the 2006-2007 school year. The founding team worked diligently to create a model for a sustainable, profit-oriented organization that created value and enriched life at Northwestern. The strategy for the group was to execute a comprehensive plan that addressed all aspects of managing student run enterprises while using a variety of previously untapped University resources. Since then, NSH has created a truly unique experience for the entrepreneurial and business-minded Northwestern student.
NSH provides every Northwestern student, regardless of major or school, the opportunity to build connections and gain exposure to real business problems. Students have the opportunity to work for and run a number of profit-focused companies, which are expected to grow in number and type over time. Employment positions are available for students within both the holding company and its subsidiaries, ranging in fields from management to finance and accounting, sales, marketing, and customer relations.
Currently, NSH owns and operates portfolio companies that generate substantial revenue and employ over 50 students and business professionals. Its businesses include a tutoring service, food delivery service, and airport transportation service for the Northwestern community. Of course, NSH is always researching and evaluating new business opportunities to add to its portfolio.
These pursuits are the manifestation of the NSH mission, vision, and its dedication to providing value to the University’s students and the surrounding community.
